How do I use this site?

This site exists to let the family of Mike Heinz and the friends of d0c, CF, Porkchop and Obvious Troll to meet, greet and catch up with each other.

Anybody is permitted to create an account on this site and make comments, start a blog, and post pictures - as long as you don't mind people making fun of them! You will have to create an account first, though.

How do I create an account?

Click on the "create an account" link on the left side of the page and fill out the form. When you're done, two things will happen: you will get an email with a password for your new account, and I will get an email asking if I want to let you become a member of the site. Once I approve your membership, you will be able to log in and post your own messages and photos.

What will I find on the site?

The site has two big parts - Photos and Conversation. In the photos area you can upload pictures, and you can add comments to other people's pictures, the conversation area is just for that - conversation. Basically, any place you see the words "comments" or "reply" you can click on them and add your words to the web site. Including this very topic you are reading now!

Now, when you start posting on this site, please remember that it's purpose is family friendly, and while I'm a big believer in free speech I also reserve the right to erase anything that I wouldn't want my grand mother to read.

How do I use the Conversation Page?

Easy. When you click on Conversation it will take you to a page with a list of all the conversations we've already started. (They're actually called "blogs" but don't worry about that.) You can read the conversations by clicking on their names or the words "Read More" at the bottom of each one. You can reply to messages in a conversation by clicking on the work "Reply" at the bottom of each message.

You can create new conversations (called "blog entries") by clicking on "Create Content" in the left menu bar and then clicking on "Blog Entry". There are other things you can make from here, which we'll talk about next.

How do I use the Photos Page?

To view the photos, just click on them. To add your own photos, you'll have to create an "Album" to put them in, first.

To create an album, click on "Create content" in the menu on the left, then click on "Album". When the form appears, give your album a name, and maybe (if you want) put a description of your album in the "body". You can ignore the rest of the buttons, just press "submit" and your album will be created - but it won't have any photos or videos in it yet, so it will be empty. To add images to it, click on the words "Mass import". You'll get another form asking you to choose the pictures you want to upload. Click on each "choose file" button and, when you've chosen the files you want to put on the site, click "upload". That's all there is to it!

You can also add images to your album by clicking "Create content" and then clicking "image". This will only
let you upload one image at a time, and you will have to pick which photo album you want to put them in - but this way you can also give each image a "body" - a description of what the picture is.

How can I tell when someone has added something new?

Look on the left side of the page. Underneath the menu links, and the "Search" form are two lists called "Recent Images" and "Recent Changes". "Recent Images" shows you the three newest images on the site (Actually, the three that changed most recently.) "Recent Changes" does the same thing but for everything else - Conversations, stories that I've written, stuff like that.

How do I add smileys and fancy stuff to my messages?

The web site will automatically convert certain word-pictures into "smileys". You can also add certain kinds of HTML and even embed your pictures into your messages. For a list of smileys, HTML and how to add pictures, go to the input help page.
